DISS is comprised of three components: Joint Verification System (JVS), Case Adjudication Tracking (CATS), and Appeals. Let’s look closer at each.

JVS is utilized by DoD and federal professionals, such as Industry Facility Security Officers, Security Officers, and Security Managers for personnel security management. These roles can verify eligibility determinations and document security eligibility access, in addition to managing visit notifications, incident reporting, and document processing. These individuals will also submit Customer Service Requests (CSRs) and respond to Requests for Action (RFAs). Currently, Industry can submit Requests for Investigations with DISS. The rest of these DISS training modules will focus on JVS.

CATS is used by the DoD and Federal Shared Service (FSS) adjudicative community for the purpose of performing security eligibility, suitability, and HSPD-12 credentialing adjudications and recording eligibility determinations.

The Appeals System supports the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA) to complete due process for subjects appealing adjudicative eligibility determinations.
