August 27-28, 2024 | Insider Threat Social and Behavioral Sciences Summit

To kick-off NITAM, the InT SBS Summit will focus on Detect. Detection is about identifying and investigating signs or actions that could signal an insider threat, using a blend of technology, psychology, and procedural checks.

September 4-5, 2024 | Counter-Insider Threat Symposium

The 9th Annual Counter Insider Threat Symposium will bring together leaders and experts across the private sector and federal government to discuss the current insider risk environment, as well as the technologies and policies necessary to disrupt and dismantle those threats and safeguard sensitive information.

September 5, 2024 | Mass Shooter Contagion Theory and the Copycat Effect in the Evolving Media Environment Webinar

Mass Shooter Contagion Theory is the studied nature and effect of media coverage (including social media and AI) of mass shootings and the potential increase of mimicked events. Both historic and recent attacks are often claimed as sources of inspiration for would-be copycat mass shooters. Future trends, including the influence of AI companions, the digital resurrection of mass killers, and assaults occurring in the metaverse may further motivate and de-sensitize the next generation of violent actors.

September 5, 2024 | HQMC Marine Corps Virtual Workshop #1: "Introduction to the Marine Corps Insider Threat Program"

During the first part of this workshop participants will be provided an overview of the Program's mission, primary lines of effort, and operational capabilities. During the second half of the workshop, Mr. Dollard will be discussing how the Program can be leveraged by commanders, supervisors, and security/personnel stakeholders to support their risk mitigation responsibilities.

September 09-10, 2024 | DCSA Conference for Insider Threat (NITAM)

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) will be hosting the National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM) Conference. The DOD Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC) and the Department of Homeland Security Insider Threat Program aims to disseminate knowledge, strengthen relationships within the Insider Threat (InT) community, and integrate research into InT operations through relevant presentations and artifacts.

September 11, 2024 | HQMC Marine Corps Virtual Workshop #2: “Threat Assessment and Management Basics: Working through the facts and avoiding cognitive bias”

Participants will be provided an overview on threat assessment concepts to include identifying different types of violence, the language of bias and bias prevention.

September 12, 2024 | HQMC Marine Corps Virtual Workshop #3: "Going Dark: The Inverse Relationship between online and on the ground pre-offense behaviors in targeted attackers"

Participants will be provided an overview on the correlation between online and on the ground behaviors of three lone-actor terrorists prior to their targeted attacks on soft targets: the Pittsburgh synagogue shooter, the Buffalo supermarket shooter, and the Bratislava bar shooter.

September 16, 2024 | HQMC Marine Corps Virtual Workshop #4: "Ethical Decision-Making in Insider Threat Case Management"

Participants will be provided an overview on ethical issues in InT case management through an ‘Ethical Decision-Making' framework.

September 25, 2024 | NITAM 2024

The Office of the Secretary of Defense Insider Threat Program is pleased to announce the 2024 National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM).  This year’s theme for the event is Deter, Detect, Mitigate: Engaging with Mission Partners.  The NITAM event will be held September 25, 2024, at the Pentagon 2nd floor, in apex 9 & 10, from 10:00am -2:00pm. We are excited about our upcoming collaboration with experts from diverse fields to promote awareness about various threats, discussing mitigation strategies and offering channels for reporting concerning behaviors.  You are invited to stop by the Pentagon NITAM event and connect with our mission partners.
